CodeMote won't pair: QR code and connection fixes
If CodeMote won't pair or the QR code won't scan, here's a quick checklist — devtunnel sign-in, the right command, regenerating the code, and connection troubleshooting.
Pairing should take a few seconds: run the command, scan the QR code, you’re in. If it’s not working, here’s the checklist, fastest fixes first.
1. Is devtunnel installed and signed in?
Most pairing failures are really devtunnel failures. Verify both:
devtunnel --versiondevtunnel user showIf either fails, see install devtunnel and devtunnel login.
2. Did you run the right command?
Use CodeMote: Start Mobile Sessionfrom the Command Palette — not VS Code’s “Turn on Remote Tunnel Access” menu item, which is a different feature.
3. Regenerate the QR code
Pairing codes are single-use and time-limited. If yours expired, run CodeMote: Show QR Code for a fresh one and scan it promptly.
4. Still not connecting?
- Make sure VS Code is open with a folder and the session started.
- Try a different network on the phone — some restrictive corporate or captive Wi-Fi blocks the tunnel; cellular usually works.
- Restart the session and scan again.
